Summer is almost here

Summer vacation is less than three weeks away and students are preparing for summer fun. There is an unlimited amount of things to do during the summer like: travel, amusement parks, concerts, internships, work, school, festivals and swimmin

Many students on campus have summer traditions. These traditions usually involve trips with friends or families to different places across the U.S.

“My family goes to the beach in North Carolina,” said Whitney Jeffrey, senior and criminal justice major. This summer Jeffrey will move to Maryland and start an internship with the Department of Justice in Washington D.C.

Freshman and math education major, Danielle Dalhart, will work two jobs during the summer.

Senior and organizational leadership major, Mike Kelley, plans to go rock climbing in Alabama and Red River Gorge in Kentucky. He will also travel around the country to watch pro drifting. According to Kelley, drifting is when drivers slide across the road and are judged on how well they control it.

Some students enjoy the summer weather, but others think it gets too hot. Every student interviewed enjoys the relaxation that summer brings.

“You get to be lazy and there are no repercussions,” said Kelley.

If traveling is too expensive, Ohio has many things to do over the summer. Wright State is a little over an hour away from King’s Island and The Beach Waterpark. For cheaper outdoor activities, the Ohio area has 19 MetroParks. Students get a discount Sun.-Thurs. at the movie theatres and The Greene’s Rave has $5 tickets all day Wed.

During summer vacation, there will also be the Warped Tour which features over thirty bands from multiple genres for a one day festival. There will also be the Ohio State Fair, county fairs, carnivals and multiple summer concerts.

Summer vacation is almost here and most students are counting down.

“[Summer’s] awesome and I wish it would never end,” said junior mass communication major, Rachel Grothause.
