Vice President of Student Government resigns

Gary Dickstein, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and faculty advisor for Student Government, has announced that Marc Tshimanyika has formally resigned from his position as Vice President of Student Government.

Tshimanyika resigns after receiving a sentence of 60 days this morning in Fairborn Municipal Court.  Tshimanyika was given credit for 10 days already served and will continue to be held in a Greene County Jail for the remaining 50.

Student Government President Joseph Gibbons announced a statement regarding the situation.

“On behalf of the Wright State University Student Government, I wish to first and foremost express our concern for Marc’s wellbeing and the hope that Marc is able to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and return to school. Furthermore, we are reserving judgment and will have no comment until such a time that we may have an opportunity to hear directly from Marc himself so that we can obtain additional information which may not necessarily be available through public records.”

Concerning the matter of the now vacated position, Gibbons went on to say “In the interim, Student Government has been and will continue to abide by our Constitution and Bylaws and take whatever appropriate action is necessary when and any student government member fails to fulfill the responsibilities of his position as Student Government V.P.”

As of this time Student Government has yet to officially declare Tshimanyika’s resignation.

The Guardian will continue to update when more information becomes available.
