What to Watch Depending on Your Mood

This fall semester has definitely had its highs and lows so far. Whether you are facing a stressful situation, celebrating a joyous occasion or anything in between, there is something great for you to watch. Check out the different moods below to see what tv show or movie should be up next on your watchlist! 

Feeling Sad 

It is healthy to feel sad every once and a while, as humans are supposed to express a variety of emotions. Here are some shows and movies to watch to make everything a little less gloomy. 

“Atlanta” – This television show is filled with beautiful narratives and is overall a depiction of true art. Often recognized for its display of “surreal realism,” “Atlanta” will help you to see beauty, joy and passion in the world again (while also covering realistic life struggles). This show is available on Hulu and its fourth season is currently planned to be released in 2022!

“Thelma & Louise” – This classic 1991 movie will quickly uplift your spirits. Its themes include self-empowerment and freedom. The film features many issues that are still prevalent today, such as sexism and self-doubt. This is definitely a feel-good movie (and it features a young Brad Pitt)! “Thelma & Louise” is currently free on YouTube. 

Feeling Happy

It is always a plus to be in a good mood. Here is a pleasant watch that will keep you laughing or at least make you cry tears of joy. 

“Schitt’s Creek” – This hilarious comedy follows a once affluent family that has to face reality quite quickly. The show was created by father and son stars Eugene and Dan Levy and is sure to have you howling. Each character brings their own comedy and spice to this ensemble show. It is also a joy to watch each one develop and learn that family is more important than wealth. “Schitt’s Creek” is available on Netflix.

Feeling Stressed

Here are some suggestions in case you just want to take some time away from your current stresses and really immerse yourself in something. 

“Breaking Bad” – This show has received wonderful reviews and for good reason. The story is intricate, thrilling and passionate. You might find yourself loving one character and hating them the next. “Breaking Bad” is available on Netflix.

“The Little Things” – This film stars Denzel Washington, Rami Malek and Jared Leto. It follows a creepy killer and two men who will do anything to find him. The story touches on all the details that add up to not only create a crime but the person involved in it. This movie is available on HBO Max.
