Honors Community Council hosts "Thanks for Giving" meal for residential students

The Honors Community Council hosted a meal for the residential students this month to celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. This was an event that brought residential students together for dinner and great fun.

The Honors Community Council consists of residents who voluntarily want to get involved with their residential community. The council hosts weekly meetings to hear the issues of the residents and try to resolve them if possible.

Since the honors residential living houses a large number of students, it is impossible for everyone to know each other. Hosting events like these brings students together to socialize with new people and essentially neighbors.

Along with dinner, the Honors Community Council provided resident with a plethora of board games to entertain themselves. Residents had the chance to engage with other residents by playing games that brought them together.

Residents of the honors community also got the chance to participate in an arts and craft activity. Using markers and writing pallets, residents were given the chance to artistically share what they are thankful for. Many included the new friends they have accumulated since coming to Wright State University.

Creating new relationships with people is a great accomplishment especially when stepping into a new environment. Being able to reflect and express thankfulness turned out to be somewhat therapeutic.

In the end, the “Thanks for Giving” community meal hosted by the Honors Community turned out to be effective as it not only provided a free mean for residents, but an engaging environment.
