Local R&B band going the distance

For brothers Andre and Marquis Lewis, singing has always been a way of life.

“We started singing when we were seven and nine,” Andre said.  With a long history of family musicians, it is no wonder that these two brothers have truly hit the ground running with their vocal aptitude.

These two prodigies are in the process of putting Dayton on the musical map.  The two formed their own band, Relevant, several years ago, and have been showing off their R&B talent at various local venues.

With the help of a new manager, Bishop Moore, Relevant is truly taking off.  They will perform on Wednesday Oct. 3 at Rumba Café in Columbus. They anticipate playing at places such as W.O. Wright’s and other local bars and venues in the near future.

“They came to me for some advice about how to get going,” Moore stated. “I made a few calls, got some stuff going, and now I’m the manager.”

They are currently working on music for some independent films in Columbus, putting together a piece for a documentary on Haiti and collaborating with a producer in Cincinnati for their new single. Moore, who recently became Relevant’s manager, also stated that there is a possibility that they will be opening for several bands in Virginia.

“It is a work in progress,” Moore said. “We are getting a lot of good feedback.”
