Men's soccer falls to Bowling Green

It was a bit of Déjà vu for Wright State, as the men’s soccer team dropped their second straight home game Tuesday night to Bowling Green.

The Raiders (9-5-1, 4-3-1) jumped out to a 2-1 lead early in the second half of the match, but saw the Falcons score two unanswered goals en route to a 3-2 win. The Raiders saw Saturday’s game against end in similar fashion, where a 2-1 lead ended up in a 3-2 loss.

“It’s the exact same scenario,” coach Bryan Davis said. “It’s really frustrating. We thought we learned—we did, but we didn’t. I’m proud of the guy’s effort but it’s not about trying, it’s about adhering to the plan.”

The Raiders two goals came from Marquis Payton, who was the lone scorer against Belmont two games ago, giving him a total of five on the season. The Raiders now have three players (Eric Lynch and Peguy Ngatcha) who have five goals so far this season.

With just three games remaining of the regular season, Davis isn’t too concerned with how his team will fare by the time the Horizon League tournament begins, opting for more cohesion instead of relying on the final score.

“It’s about us coming together and playing well. It’s not about results until we get on the same page,” Davis said. “We’re just struggling right now. We’ll be okay.”

Wright State will wrap up their three-game home stand Oct. 31, when they take on San Diego State at 7 p.m. at Alumni Field.
