Wright State University student governing body kicks off the yearly election cycle by opening petitions to the student body.

The process

According to the Student Government Association constitution and by-laws, each year the president, vice president and all senators of the organization are elected or reelected for a term during the following academic year.

Whoever is elected president of SGA also serves as the leader of and representative for the WSU student body, while senators represent specific areas or colleges, including the College of Liberal Arts and Residential Senator, among other constituencies. All three positions also must maintain active membership in the organization.

Petitions validate a student to run for an elected office; this is the first step in running for an elected office in SGA. The petitioning process opened on March 6 and runs until March 20 at 8 a.m.

Students who want to learn more about how to become a candidate can visit the WSU SGA Engage page.
