On Friday April 12, the Raj Soin College of Business Dean Student Advisory Board (DSAB)
will be hosting Dress for Success, a fashion show meant to teach students how to dress in the
business world. The event will also include a raffle and refreshments. All proceeds from the
fashion show will be donated to Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the clothes will be donated to
Clothes That Work.
“It’s something our generation struggles with,” says Kelsey Buettner, president of Raj
Soin DSAB. “The very first thing [employers] judge you on is how you’re dressed.” Students who
attend the fashion show will receive valuable career advice, including tips on how to dress for
success.
Why a fashion show? “Dean Li actually came to me in the summertime,” explains
Buettner. “She felt it was a problem our students seem to have—how they dress for interviews
and presentations—and that this would give them a way to learn a really useful skill.” At the
event, models from student government, Greek organizations, athletics, and other WSU groups
will be showing off great business wear to demonstrate the right way to dress for success.
Buettner adds that, “it’s a unique opportunity to view the college… and a great
networking opportunity as well.” Students will be able to network with representatives from
the Dayton area who work for several different companies, including Eagle Registrations,
Macy’s, Elder-Beerman, and James Investment Research, among others.
