Women’s basketball: Mingo, Bradbury honored

The Horizon League announced Monday afternoon that Wright State senior guard Tay’ler Mingo was the league’s Player of the Year and WSU’s Mike Bradbury was its Coach of the Year.

Mingo was the second consecutive Raider named as the league’s Player of the Year. Mingo led the league in scoring with 22.6 points per game, assists with 5.4 per game and steals with 3.3 per game this season.

Mingo is the second Raider to be named Player of the Year. The first was Kim Demmings who was tabbed last season for the award. He was also the league’s Preseason Player of the Year before getting injured in WSU’s season opener.

Mingo was also named to the league’s All-Defensive Team. The honor marked the second-straight year Mingo was selected to the All-Defensive Team.

Bradbury’s career record at Wright State is 102-60. Bradbury said on Saturday that he and the team do not pay much attention to the accolades they receive and would rather focus on each given day.

“We don’t play much attention to Player of the Week, MVP, coach of this and coach of that,” Bradbury said. “We don’t talk about that, we just do what we’re supposed to do.”

Bradbury is the second WSU coach to be honored by the league. The last Raider head coach that was named Coach of the Year by the Horizon League was Bridgett Williams in 2008.

The Raiders finished the regular season 23-7 and begin postseason play Wednesday night versus Oakland at 7.
