The Lake Campus community has seen dramatic changes due to the pandemic over the past year and a half. Some restrictions are still in place, but many establishments are swinging back to normal.

Brew Nation Makes Drastic Changes

Brew Nation, a restaurant and bar located on Main Street,  had to make changes to its operations due to the pandemic. Current hours are limited to four days a week, opening at 11 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m. Wednesdays, 9 p.m. Thursdays, and 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

“Our business has been hurt tremendously,” owner and general manager Kim Nation said. “It is getting busier, but still not consistent.”

Brew Nation is not currently requiring masks for customers but has adjusted seating for social distancing. Employees are taking precautions by getting vaccinated and monitoring themselves for symptoms and possible COVID-19 contact.

With precautions in place, Nation encourages students to visit. They also offer a discount to students who show their Wright One card.

“We have plenty of space and plenty of plugs!” Nation said.

Celina Library Offers New Services

Mercer County District Library’s Celina branch is currently open during regular hours and has no mask requirement.

“We opened up fully in July 2020,” library director and CFO Elizabeth Muether said. “This year it’s pretty back to normal.”

Curbside book pick-up was established at the beginning of the pandemic and continues to be available due to high popularity.

The library has now partnered with the Ohio Department of Health to distribute COVID rapid tests at no cost.

In addition to these new services, the library remains a ready resource for Lake students, offering textbooks through OhioLink as well as a new tech lounge aimed toward college students.

Wal-Mart Hours Still Reduced

Celina Walmart, located on Havemann Road, has updated its operating hours to 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to a Walmart representative. Although masks are recommended for customers, they are not required.
