Wright State University (WSU) students will be able to utilize a new lounge that is expected to open later this week called The Landing.

The Landing’s opening

The Landing is a new student lounge for the WSU community to use. The lounge will have different activities, food and drinks for students according to Matthew Eilerman, the president of H20 Church.

“It will be a great place for students to hang out, play games and attend events on campus,” Eilerman said.

Eilerman also says that students will be able to participate in tournaments and various events at the lounge.

The Landing is in the process of being renovated and will be able to open once complete.

Katie Manning, the Property Manager for Crawford Hoying who owns the space, says that The Landing will be able to open later this week once the flooring is renovated.

“It’s a very welcoming, inviting space,” Manning said. “We’re just excited to see it open and seeing people gather in and have that sense of community.”

Do students want similar spaces on campus?

Some students who live on campus will be checking out The Landing once it opens. Sydney Sampson, a WSU student, says that she would be interested in seeing The Landing.

“I would go because I live on campus,” Sampson said.

Other students who commute to campus say that they are less inclined to go to places on campus but only because they live off campus.

“If I lived on campus I would go,” Karly Stacey, another WSU student, said.

Both Stacey and Sampson say that they would also like to see more cafes and dining options in addition to spaces like The Landing on campus.

Manning encourages students to use this space. This space is open to both commuter and residential students.

The Landing will be opening as early as this week.
