WSU women's bowling ranked eighth in country

The Wright State women’s bowling team finished last season ranked number eight in the country and were the only program in the final 16 to have no scholarship athletes. They were also the only team to have eight competing athletes from the state in which the school is located.

The women’s team has reached Nationals four out of the past five seasons. This past season, the team placed third at the Intercollegiate Championships on April 20 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The program is quickly on the rise according to coach Jeff Fleck, who said they really see their hard work paying off. In their eighth season as a program, Fleck is excited about how much they have grown and improved each year.

“I have no doubt the coaches and the girls will be able to continue to strengthen the bowling program,” said senior Katie Ruehl.

The team has high expectations for the upcoming season as they return six out of their top eight bowlers.

Coach Fleck said he would appreciate support from the student body as the raiders seek their first National Championship in the program’s short history.
